All JPS Engineering
Flowmeters consist of a full flow filter, an electronic Walbro "on demand" fuel
pump, a positive displacement flow sensor and a finned recirculation tank. The
level in the recirculation tank is kept constant with the aid of float feed
valve(s). The engine fuel supply and return are connected to the above tank.
Only the "make up" fuel fed through the valve(s) is measured. The sensor
electrical pulses are either 1ml or 5ml. A cab counter or another type of
monitor indicates the amount of fuel used during the test period required. Each
unit is individually tested and issued with a calibration certificate. |

Fuel Flowmeter Systems
A full range of equipment is being
offered to measure accurately the fuel consumption of cars, vans, trucks,
coaches, buses, off-highway vehicles, boats, diesel suburban trains and
test-bed engines from 20kW to 1200kW.
Advanced design and specifications
offer the following advantages:
No drop in performance. The
diesel and gasoline injection flowmeter systems produce no pressure drop in the
fuel supply to engine and no back pressure in the fuel return. Built-in fuel
cooling arrangements assure 'normal' engine behaviour. Engine performance
figures obtained with and without meter are identical.
High
accuracy. Overall measuring accuracy is better than 1% of reading
throughout the working range (usually 1-100).
Versatility. All
diesel systems are suitable for all types of engines whatever their fuelling
arrangements.
No bits and pieces. The flowmeter systems are
integral and contain all the required components in one unit. There is no
separate filter, de-aerator, fuel cooler, fuel pressure relief valve, flow
sensor, fuel pump etc. It means minimum fitting time and an easy change over
from installation to installation.
Good resolution and full
instrumentation. The results are presented in 1ml and 5ml increments
depending on the capacity of the system. Apart from total fuel consumed, the
electronic monitor also indicates time and a trip fuel used facility that can
be reset.
Large Diesel Vehicles (120
- 500KW, specials up to 1200KW)
FMS MK 2C. Choice of 2 or 3
litre finned recirculation / cooling tank, Walbro 'demand only' fuel pump,
large full flow filter and volumetric flow sensor. this assembly is mounted an
on aluminium frame.
FMS MK 10. Choice of 2 or 3 litre finned
recirculation / cooling tank, Walbro 'demand only' fuel pump and a large full
flow filter. this unit can be fitted with either a mechanical volumetric flow
meter with built in meter readout or an oval gear flow sensor with separate
electronic readout. This assembly is mounted on an aluminium back
plate.
Carburettor System Without Fuel
Return
FMS MK 3. Consists of a full flow filter,
de-aerator and flow sensor mounted on an aluminium casting back
plate.
Gasoline Injection Without Fuel
Return
FMS MK 12. Consists of a full flow high
pressure filter and flow sensor mounted on an aluminium casting back
plate.
Cars And Vans With Fuel Return
systems (Carburettor, gasoline injection and
diesel)
FMS MK 4. Small version of FMS MK 2C with 1 litre and
3.5 litre finned recirculation tank. Mounted on an aluminium
frame.
FMS MK 7. Similar to MK 4, but with 3.5 litre
recirculation tank containing high pressure electric fuel injection pump. It
can also be used as an FMS MK 4 unit.
FMS MK 7C. Special version
of the above with additional fuel-to-fuel cooling heat exchanger circuit in the
recirculation tank.
FMS MK 10B. (Diesel only). Small version of
FMS MK 10 with 1 litre finned recirculation tank. Unit can be fitted with
either a mechanical flow meter with built in meter readout or an oval gear flow
sensor. Assembly is mounted on an aluminium casting back plate.
NEW! FMS MK 15. Similar to FMS MK 4, but with 750ml
finned recirculation tank. Assembly is mounted on an aluminium casting back
plate.
Engine Test Bed Total Supply Flow
Meter
FMS MK 11A. Consists of a full flow filter -
mechanical flow meter with a built in readout display - a finely adjustable
pressure regulator and pressure gauge (0-10 p.s.i.). Assembly is mounted on an
aluminium casting back plate.
FMS MK 11B. Consists of full flow
filter - a mechanical flow meter with built in readout display. Assembly is
mounted on an aluminium casting back plate.
Engine
Test Beds
FMS MK 9. Eight versions are available with
various flow sensors and finned recirculation tanks. A fuel pump or gravity
feed drives the flow meter and feeds the tank mounted float-valve assemblies.
The complete system is fitted in a rectangular stainless steel case, 650mm
high. Depending on the model, the width and depth vary from 230mm to 310mm.
Electric fan(s) assure adequate tank and case cooling. There is an equivalent
system to every vehicle-mounted arrangement, including some extra fuel-to-fuel
cooling and / or gasoline injection submerged H.P. fuel pumps. The unit can be
fitted with an electronic Paar Scientific density meter.
LPG Measuring Equipment is Available
Diesel
and Gasoline Calibrations
All our flow meters are calibrated to the
flow steps issued by the ISO proposal - ISO/DIS 11081.
Each set of
equipment is supplied with a full calibration certificate.
Competitor's
vehicle fuel flow meters can also be calibrated: Flow rates 0.4 - 125 litres
per hour.
All fuel measurement equipment is available in either 12 or
24 v DC.
